This is the second Kumihimo book by Rebecca Combs. This book will focus more on the beginner and shares some of the most popular features that made the first book a runaway success conversational voice, skill-building format, Kumihimo math, and continuing to use the inexpensive Kumihimo foam disk. Kumihimo Simplified includes 5 “new” braids 8-warp basket weave, 16-warp rectangular, 16-warp hollow basket, 8-warp half-round, and 8-warp square. Beads will be included within the braids where appropriate, however, the focus will be straight braid. Special sidebars will include Creative Closures - 5 different ways to finish Kumihimo braids, besides the common gluing of endcaps.

This is a terrific book for the beginner and the more experienced braider. Rebecca does not teach the round braid, which is so common and can easily be learned on you tube! Instead, she is teaching the 8-warp basket weave, the half-round braid and the square braid and she lets you know what each braid is great for. She also teaches the 16-warp hollow braid which is great for a curtain pull or purse handle and the 16-warp trapezoid braid. She teaches different closures, different fibers including leather, as well as beading wire and beads. She also teaches how to use a core. If this isn't enough for you, she goes into the kumihimo math, troubleshoots the common mistakes newbies make with each braid and gives helpful hints to avoid those mistakes in the future.
