Brutal, dark, savage, cold blooded, deranged, bloody twisted tale. These are just some of the adjectives that describe this book. The intensity was there as it was in the first book that's for sure! I will start by saying the one thing that had me yelling at my kindle. It didn't feel true to character that Kade would just let her go because even I saw that plot twist coming. I was surprised they would be so naive about it. Kade even mentioned in the first book if I recall correctly that he said she couldn't leave him and that he would just stalk her so his actions just seemed baffling. Then one full week of self pity, I couldn't stand it. I almost stopped reading at that point, I was so irritated... but I persisted. Other reviewers mentioned in the previous book the break in character to talk directly to the reader. In the last book it didn't bother me, but in this book, it pulled me from the intensity that I'm sure the writer wanted me to fully embrace. It just didn't work in this book. Also, the inner dialogue sometimes went on for too long, I literally found myself skipping parts of long inner monologue to get back to the very riveting story going on outside the characters head. The violence in this book was almost a living thing, its own character, with color, sound and smell. It was pervasive and everywhere. It was really almost to much for this reader. I've read a lot of dark books but this one's not for the faint of heart! All that being said, I liked it. I liked the characters and I appreciated their strength together in learning how to not only survive, but to thrive.Product details

Wow, that was brutal! Really, really crazy! You would think that after the first book I would be prepared for the macabre of this written work, but nope, I was unprepared for the twist this story took. Christine Zolendz is a fabulous author...her writing style and ability to tell a story is just stunning.
Her Kade Grayson is still all kinds of messed up! I love that about him, but I love even more that Samantha is his normal! I think that her ex, the villain of this tale, may be the most vile character I have ever read...a true psychopath...chilling to the bone!
I loved the back story of Samantha and her life prior to meeting Kade. What a well written tale of suspense and danger. I found most of nails chewed off with each passing page. Also ,I felt it was written so cleverly and with intricate web of lies and deceit. At the heart of it all was a total psychopath and a lust for greed consuming those who Sam thought she could trust the most.
I have no idea if it makes me crazy or not, but I loved every sick single thing about this book, not the torture, but the overall plot. If you like the crazy, the edge of your seat suspense, and terror...this book will deliver!
Christine Zolendz does it again. Her writing brings image's straight to your mind and heart. Powerful, poignant, strong women in all of her work. I truly love her stories of love, longing and of anticipating love making. Her men are,,,,, hmmmm, so deliciously yummy. The women, strong, capable and survivors. In these two stories, Samantha Matthews fights to live. Tortured by her husband, she fights and runs with her best friend Jennifer.
When they finally stop at a bar in the middle of nowhere, they walk in bleeding and bruised asking for a drink. Dylan, owner of the bar, serves them, and recommends the nearest hospital. Refusing, they drink and ask for jobs. Sam and her best friend Jennifer, end up staying and making a life here.
Dylan's older brother Kade, walks in one night, and cannot take his eyes off Sam. Broken himself from tragedy at the age of 16, Kade has lived his life in his own head full of violence, blood and death. Never feeling, never loving, this green eyed waitress awakens something inside him. He must get his hands on her.
I can go on and on, but I do not like disclosing too much and ruin the story. If you enjoy suspense, love, hot men and strong women, read BRUTALLY BEAUTIFUL and COLD-BLOODED BEAUTIFUL. Christine Zolendz will quickly become one of your favorite authors. After reading, go to her page and see her other work. Friend her on Facebook, keep up with her writing, and let her take you on some of the best journeys of your life.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as the first one. Kade seemed a lot more psychotic than he did in "Brutally Beautiful" to the point where I kept thinking "someone needs to get this dude a bottle of Valium"! He acted like a toddler most of the time and I found the way he treated those around him really offensive. The book seemed kind of tedious to me too. Once I hit the 80% mark it was "swipe, skim, swipe, skim" for me. I felt like I was never going to get through it and actually had to stop reading and start another book before I could get through this one. I missed all the sexual tension and the bedroom scenes that were in "Brutally Beautiful" as well. I did like the HEA Kade and Samantha got and did enjoy the first 1/2 of the book or so, just not the rest.
